Fantasy football start/sit, Week 9: What to do with Larry Fitzgerald on Sunday

Can Larry Fitzgerald continue his magical season with Carson Palmer now sidelined?

NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arizona Cardinals Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals’ season is in disarray, so they’ll be relying heavily on Larry Fitzgerald to help right the ship vs. the San Francisco 49ers in Week 9.

Despite being 34 years old, Fitzgerald is one of the best receivers in fantasy football. However, we can’t expect that to continue after Arizona lost starting quarterback Carson Palmer.

Backup Drew Stanton is a major downgrade, and Fitzgerald already has his work cut out for him against a sneaky-good 49ers secondary, which actually held Arizona to just 12 points in regulation when the two teams met in Week 4.

Fitzgerald enters Week 9 ranked No. 12 in fantasy points per game among wide receivers. Don’t expect him to keep up that pace over the second half of this season.

Fantasy Advice: Fitzgerald will be on the road facing a 49ers defense allowing the 11th-fewest fantasy points to receivers over the last three weeks. Bench Fitzgerald for this matchup.
