Zach Ertz ruled out for Week 9: Fantasy football implications

The Eagles tight end worked out his hamstring before the game, and can’t go. We break down the fantasy implications.

The Philadelphia Eagles host the Denver Broncos in Week 9, and Carson Wentz will be playing without a notable option. The team deactivated tight end Zach Ertz due to his hamstring injury.

Ertz was listed as questionable, but after he attempted to give it a go Sunday morning before the game, the medical staff decided to give him some more time to recover. He currently leads the Eagles with 43 receptions for 528 yards and six touchdowns.

Fantasy football impact: Brent Celek and Trey Burton will both see more work with Ertz inactive. Last week, Celek had one reception for 14 yards, and Burton had two receptions for 21 yards. The Broncos give up the third most fantasy points to tight ends, but neither Celek or Burton is worth a start outside of the deepest of leagues. Look for Wentz to focus on his wide receivers and running backs instead of his tight ends.
