Devin Funchess spent the first two years of his career showing promise, but rarely delivering on it. Despite that, the Carolina Panthers showed confidence in him when they traded away Kelvin Benjamin at the deadline, making Funchess the new No. 1 receiver.
Since then, Funchess has filled in the role quite nicely. Through 14 games, he’s smashed his career highs in catches (58), yards (781), and touchdowns (seven), scoring four times in his last five games. Funchess did hit a speed bump last week, getting only one catch for 19 yards against the Green Bay Packers before banging up his shoulder, which has been bothering him for a while.
Fantasy impact: Funchess didn’t get much practice time as he continues playing through the shoulder injury, but he’ll be back there in Week 16 and has a good matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa’s defense has completely fallen apart this year and is giving up the most fantasy points to wide receivers. Barring any setback with the shoulder, Funchess will be a WR3 for fantasy championship week.
