The Giants head to Dallas for Week 1 not knowing if they will have their superstar receiver Odell Beckham Jr. While this looks bleak for the Giant offense, it actually raises 11-year veteran Brandon Marshall’s fantasy value quite a bit.
If Beckham is out or even limited in this week, Marshall automatically moves to the top of the target list for QB Eli Manning. Most of the attention in this game will be focused on the Cowboys offense against the Giants defense. However, it is worth noting that Marshall is one of the most proven receivers in the NFL and is facing an inexperienced Cowboys secondary.
Historically, Marshall is a gem in his first year with a new team. He averaged just under 104 catches, around 1,337 yards and almost nine touchdowns in the first year with the Bears, Dolphins Jets and non-rookie year with the Broncos.
Fantasy impact:
Marshall is the only proven weapon left on the Giants offense in Week 1. They do not have much of a running game and with Beckham on the fence, Manning’s only other receiving option is rookie Evan Engram. Marshall should have a double-digit target night easily. He record numbers with new teams and the favorable matchup really help his fantasy stock this week.
