Washington tight end Jordan Reed is an incredible talent, but has struggled to stay healthy throughout his NFL career. You draft him assuming he’ll put up big numbers when healthy, but assured he will miss some time during the season. It sounds like we can already prepare for that eventuality in 2017.
On Sunday, Ian Rapoport reported that Reed is dealing with a toe injury that sources tell him is a fracture in his big toe. Reed was slow to get going in training camp, but he is expected to be active for Week 1.
Fantasy impact: A toe injury impacts the way a player runs, which is concerning for Reed. However, if he is active in Week 1, you should play him. You only get so many games of an active Jordan Reed, and I think even with the injury, he’ll be productive. If there is a ridiculous second option, then go with it, but as is, plan on playing Reed against the Philadelphia Eagles.
