Tiger Woods left the first round of Accenture Match Play 2011, followed shortly after by Phil Mickelson. Lee Westwood was the next No. 1 seed to exit the bracket in Thursday’s scores, falling by 1 to Nick Watney. All eyes turned to Martin Kaymer, the lone remaining top seed, who beat Justin Rose in extra innings, needing 20 holes to survive.
Friday’s Bobby Jones bracket matchups will pit Watney against Ryan Moore and Matteo Manassero drawing Luke Donald. Ben Hogan’s territory will see Graeme McDowell against Y.E. Yang and Rickie Fowler playing Matt Kuchar.
The Sam Snead bracket has Geoff Ogilvy taking on Bubba Watson as Jason Day faces J.B. Holmes. Ben Crane will get Miguel Jimenez in the Gary Player bracket, with that winner to be matched up against the winner of Watney vs. Kaymer.
