Shell Houston Open 2012: Carl Pettersson, Angel Cabrera Are Early Leaders

The 2012 Shell Houston Open is underway in Humble, Texas. Thursday's opening round kicked off the final PGA Tour event before next week's Masters in Augusta. The 144-player field has plenty of star power as many players are staying tuned up in preparation for the big one.

Midway through Thursday's round, Carl Pettersson and Angel Cabrera are tied atop the leaderboard at 7-under. Both golfers have finished their rounds and have a one-stroke lead over Jeff Maggert, Ricky Barnes and Jim Herman, although Herman still has a couple holes to go to improve upon his 6-under par.

Phil Mickelson is at 1-under through three holes, as is Charl Schwartzel. Top-ranked Johnson Wagner finished with a 4-under and is in a six-way tie for 10th place.
