The next time you watch Tom Brady heave a football toward the Gillette end zone, imagine that the four-time Super Bowl champ is driving a somewhat smaller orb down the fairway at Augusta National.
Because that’s how TB12 described his pigskin-tossing fundamentals before going out and deflating the NFL team from Washington to get his New England squad to 8-0 for the season. Brady, even Patriots haters must agree, has a pretty good short game — which the AT&T National Pro-Am Pebble Beach regular compared to the shorter sticks in his bag.
"As far as the mechanics, I've really tried to work on those. A lot of them are probably pretty much the same whether it's a five-yard pass or it's a 50-yard pass. The mechanics of the throw are very similar," Brady told reporters last week.
"It would be like hitting a wedge or a driver. It's the same swing," Brady explained. "There's just a little nuance to it that may be a little different. So I haven't hit the driver as well as I probably hit the wedges, but if I can hit the driver a little better, it would make things a little bit easier on our team."
Tom Brady just used 3 golf metaphors in a row at his press conference. I think he's trying to seduce me.

Brady, who’s tossing the pigskin better than ever at age 38 (Tiger Woods, injury plagued and facing the big 4-0 next month, might want to take some health and nutrition tips from Touchdown Tom), knows whereof he speaks links-wise.
The @Patriots have scored in 29 consecutive quarters. Watching Tom Brady right now is like watching @TigerWoods play golf in the year 2000.

In addition to making several appearances at the Pebble Beach tourney, he teed it up with Rory McIlroy at Augusta ahead of the Masters earlier this year.
Great to meet Tom Brady last night. Looking forward to our game at Augusta. #4SuperBowls #4Majors

And prior to embarking on the season, Brady and Saints QB Drew Brees hung out with two-time Masters titleholder Bubba Watson.
Just learned how to throw a football watching @drewbrees & Tom Brady!! #GreenbrierLife pic.twitter.com/vgMcHxTXkM

Perhaps Brady and Giants punter Brad Wing can compare notes when their respective teams take the field on Sunday in New York.
