Jimmy Fallon needles Tiger Woods about his terrible U.S. Open

Tiger Woods had not been the butt of late-night jokes for a few years, but his most recent competitive golf outing, well, that was a knee-slapper to Jimmy Fallon.

Fallon, who had Woods and Rory McIlroy take part in a Facebreakers segment on his Tonight Show just about a year ago, acknowledged Jordan Spieth’s U.S. Open victory last week at Chambers Bay during his monologue, but made sure to zing Woods shortly thereafter.

Woods missed the cut in the event after carding a 10-over 80 in Thursday’s first round and a 76 on Friday. And while Woods had knee surgery on his mind afterward (not his own, his canine pal’s wheels are shot as well), Fallon made sure to needle the struggling superstar.

"I want to say congrats to Jordan Spieth, who won the U.S. Open yesterday in golf," Fallon said Monday night. "And I want to say congrats to Tiger Woods who found an old locket while he was retrieving his ball from the lake. Could be worth money, who knows?

Fallon also mocked Spieth’s age, because being young was apparently freaking hilarious to the Tonight Show crowd.

"That’s right, 21-year-old Jordan Spieth won the U.S. Open. You can tell he’s young, because he’s never heard of any of the products they advertise during golf tournaments. He's like, 'What the hell is Levitra?’"

The controversial greens at Chambers Bay did not have many tournament golfers laughing, but Fallon certainly saw the humor in them, as the bit about a hole coughing up a made putt was pretty good.
