British Open tee times 2015: Pairings for Friday's second round

Will the entire tee sheet get blasted by the rough weather coming to the Old Course?

UPDATE: Rains pounded St. Andrews Friday morning and forced almost a 3.5-hour weather delay. Only two groups made it onto the course before they were called back in as the course became unplayable with standing water. It takes a lot for weather to delay the Open -- it's supposed to be unpleasant. But this delay pushed the entire tee sheet back more than three hours. It stays light out in Scotland past 10 p.m. this time of year, but with the final tee time not set to go until 7:30 p.m. local, there's no way they will wrap up on time Friday night. The updated tee sheet with new times is below.

If the weather turns like it's forecasted on Friday, the Open Championship is going to become an enjoyable circus for the second round. The original forecast called for relatively benign conditions in the morning turning to menacing wind and rain in the afternoon. Now, it appears that it will be bad throughout the day and everyone will have a hell of a time trying to navigate the seaside St. Andrews links. It will be wet and windy in the morning and drier but with more extreme gusts in the afternoon (allegedly).

The easiest conditions of the week may have occurred Thursday morning and the top two talents in the field took advantage. Dustin Johnson bombed his way around St. Andrews to post an opening round best 7-under 65. That's one shot clear of a host of chasers at 6-under, and two clear of Jordan Spieth. The reigning Masters and U.S. Open champ had little trouble adjusting to the time change on a course he's never played competitively before, rolling in five birdies in his first nine holes to quickly get back on the lead at a major.

It should get much harder for Spieth and Johnson on Friday. The wind should be gusting toward 40 mph and dramatically impact scores for the afternoon wave. DJ, Spieth, and Hideki Matsuyama go off No. 1 at 9:34 a.m. ET (2:34 p.m. local) 12:48 p.m. ET (5:48 P.M. local). Also out in the afternoon wave is Tiger Woods, who will start his round a good 11 shots back of the leader. Woods may need a miracle with the weather, and his swing, in order to avoid missing the cut at his second straight major championship.

Nothing looked good for Woods on Thursday. He was out there when the scoring conditions were perfect on a course that he's called his favorite in the world and also can mitigate some of the worst parts of his game right now. But it was ugly almost all the way through as he tumbled to the bottom of the early leaderboard. He will play with Louis Oosthuizen and Jason Day, who is in the group just a shot back at 6-under, at 9:56 a.m 1:10 p.m. ET.

Even if the weather goes sideways, the Open should not have much of an issue getting the full 156-man field through 36 holes by Friday night. It gets light out well before 5 a.m. in Scotland this time of year and you can play golf until well after 10 p.m. local. Also, the wind will have to start blowing so hard that the ball won't stay still up on the greens. That's always a possibility on these links courses, in particular St. Andrews. But even a delay should still give the R&A room to stay on schedule. With that cushion, there's no need to send the field off split tees like the the U.S. Open and PGA Championship.

Instead, there are 52 rolling tee times all off No. 1, where legendary starter Ivor Robson belts out each name for almost 10 hours. The story goes that Robson never leaves his post for a bathroom break. He's been doing the job at The Open for 41 years, but this will be his last. So Friday's his final truly full day.
