Nearly 365 days ago, Sergio Garcia did this in the first round of the 2017 Players Championship at the famous 17th hole:
It is a tale of two years for Garcia, however. Last year was ecstasy. This year — well — this was agony.

He’s got more history on the hole as well. In 2013, while in contention to win his second Players Championship, he came to the 17th and did this in the final round ...
... and if that wasn’t bad enough, he put his next attempt in the water too to fully eject himself out of contention and Tiger Woods would end up the champion.
Garcia is certainly not alone in his misery at 17 in this year’s tournament either. Multiple golfers have put it in the water as they do every round, and it claimed some other famous golfers on a day when the hole was playing 126 yards to the pin. 2015 champion Rickie Fowler came up just short of the green and then Phil Mickelson — in the same group — got wet as well.
But hey, Sergio, at least it isn’t No. 15 at Augusta.
