Houston Rockets' GM Daryl Morey can't trade Omer Asik, tries tweeting him into All-Star Game

New, comments

Omer Asik isn't going anywhere, so the guy who failed to trade him is at least trying to make the guy feel wanted.

Practically since the day they signed Dwight Howard, the Houston Rockets have been trying to trade Omer Asik. They've been trying really hard to trade Omer Asik. They have let everybody know that they are trying to trade Omer Asik.

However, after setting Thursday as the day for a potential Omer Asik deal, nobody wanted to trade with them for Omer Asik -- perhaps because they made it so obvious they wanted to get rid of him in the first place, wrecking their leverage. And Thursday appears set to turn into Friday with Asik still a Rocket.

That's what makes this tweet by Rockets GM Daryl Morey so great:

That counts as a vote for Asik to the NBA All-Star Game, which is a good-humored thing to do after getting stuck with the player on your roster. And as Mike Prada pointed out in our Campfire room, the fact that this tweet is blowing up is giving Asik a host of votes to the All-Star Game. Sure, teams don't want to trade for Omer Asik, but how about ALL-STAR Omer Asik?
