ESPN has struck on something brilliant: as part of their BCS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP MEGACAST, they have a bunch of coaches and analysts watching the game on ESPNews and just talking from a coaching viewpoint.
As Florida State lined up for a fourth-and-4 from its own 40 late in the first half, all of them -- Kevin Sumlin, Paul Chryst and Steve Addazio, plus analysts Matt Millen, Chris Spielman and Tom Luginbill -- ALL called FSU going for a fake punt. (Video via Coaching Search.)
They did:
Karlos Williams picked up 7 yards, the 'Noles would march down the field and score, and a 21-3 game turned into a 21-10 game that was modestly interesting.
Gus Malzahn's coached a pretty incredible game, but the dudes in the booth were a step ahead of him on this one.
