The WWE referred to the Malaysian Airline tragedy to get a crowd reaction

No. Just, no.

The WWE is known well for weaving news headlines into characters for the sake of getting heat from the crowd, but referring to Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 to get the crowd angry is terrible, no matter how you dance around it.

Sure Lana tried to spin it by talking about "recent current events" but everyone knew what it meant. How the WWE would handle a pro-Russian character in the wake of an international tragedy was always curious, but the best move here would have been none at all.

We get that the Sunday night match between Rusev and Jack Swagger was billed as Russia vs. USA but please, don't do this again.

UPDATE: The WWE has released a statement to TMZ on Lana's comment from the Sunday night pay per view.

"The storyline with characters Rusev and Lana has been a part of WWE programming for more than 3 months. WWE apologizes to anyone who misunderstood last night's segment and was offended."
