Step aside, minor league hockey guys, the GM-stunt-as-promotion bar has been raised. Via Darren Rovell:
Staying true to his word, a minor league general manager underwent a prostate exam while singing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" during a seventh-inning stretch on Thursday night in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Andy Milovich, general manager of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a Single-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, pledged to undergo the procedure on the team's Prostate Awareness Night if the Facebook page of local 10-year-old Fallon Emery got roughly 4,000 more likes. Emery was diagnosed with brain cancer in December.
Very nice that there was a health-oriented, awareness-raising, charitable (there will also be an auction) motivation to this, because if the thought process was just "We need a promotion!" ---> "Fingers in the GM's butt while he sings to a crowd of strangers!", that would be pretty off-putting.
