Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman was named as Houston's next coach in December, but he was allowed to finish his duties with the Buckeyes as they played in the College Football Playoff. Tonight they won the title. He walked to the podium with a hat in his back pocket:

Ohio State kept Herman as he put together the gameplans to knock off Alabama and Oregon. And now Houston gets a coach who can tell recruits he just won a ring. Everybody's happy.
