One of the skills in the job description for TV soccer announcer is "must be able to stay awake for the duration of the soccer game, and if you do fall asleep at least don't snore very loudly."
That is Chinese soccer announcer Dong Lu, who has reportedly been fired for having himself a snooze during a Real Madrid-PSG match that, to be fair, was played at a pretty forbidding hour for him. Via The Mirror:
Dong Lu, the veteran Chinese pundit, was acting as co-commentator for LeTV's coverage of the Real Madrid versus Paris Saint-Germain match early Wednesday morning Beijing time, when he dozed off.
The 46-year-old had to stay up until 3:45am for kick-off at the Santiago Bernabeu, and fatigue got the better of him in the final 20 minutes.
That sucks. On one hand, it's asking a lot of a grown man to make him analyze sports in the middle of the night. On the other hand: Naps. Guess that's something to keep in mind for the next TV gig.
