UC Irvine had a chance to go big on Friday night ... really big. The Chapman Panthers rolled into town expecting a fight and were met with a team of monsters, or Monstars -- depending on how invested you are in the Space Jam fiction.
The BIG lineup wins the tip and uses all that height to get on the board early! #TogetherWeZot pic.twitter.com/ffnRY85BOg

The charge was led by 6'10 point guard Mike Best and it worked in a 65-51 win. While their starters were outscored 45-30, they easily won the battle of the paint by blocking 11 shots -- including four from phenom center Mamadou Ndiaye. This was really just a good excuse to show off the ludicrous size UC Irvine had against a poor team without a single player over 6'9. They noticed.
