Sunday night's celebration of Saturday Night Live's 40th anniversary featured a montage of the funniest sports moments in the show's history.
Introduced by Peyton Manning and Derek Jeter, the montage includes some skits starring athletes -- like Manning's ill-fated charity clinic for kids and Jeter's appearance in drag as a "Yankee wife" -- to skits about sports, like Will Ferrell's impression of Harry Caray and the Chicago-centric Bill Swerski's Superfans.
SNL has long been intertwined with sports -- over 30 athletes have appeared as guest hosts, starting with Fran Tarkenton in 1977. The full list of athlete hosts includes Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Tom Brady, Wayne Gretzky and some of the greatest athletes of the past 40 years. Charles Barkley actually hosted the show twice.
Previously in tonight's spectacle, Manning had made a joke about how being an NFL player causes him to get hit in the head a lot.
