5 other letters of apology from around Major League Baseball

New, comments

Alex Rodriguez's letter might be the most famous, but it wasn't the first.

Alex Rodriguez released a letter of apology to his fans on Tuesday, and just in case you didn't think he meant every word, note that he wrote the letter by hand. You can't be insincere when you write a note by hand. Everyone knows that.

It wasn't the first time that a major league player has written a note of apology before, though. A-Rod was following an established tradition of contrition, something that ballplayers have been doing a lot lately.

1. Andy Pettitte

2. Hunter Pence

3. Michael Pineda

4. Ryan Howard

5. Pat Burrell
