If you like basketball, I think you will enjoy Larry Bird's conversation with Dan Patrick. It's really nice.
Bird is Bird -- he chuckles through some self-deprecation about his age and weight, cuts that with a little cockiness, and talks some gentle trash. Some highlights:
- Patrick asks how he'd do one-on-one against Bird and Bird replies "It's probably 10 to 8 because I've gotta sit down and take a break when you've got the ball."
- He and Patrick rattle off a list of great shooters, but Bird says he's still "in the conversation" for best shooter ever, which ... I don't even think that's cocky.
- Patrick asks him about Jordan's one-on-one prowess and claims that he could beat members of his Hornets one-on-one today. Bird laughs at Jordan for that (although ... don't forget), but admits Jordan would crush him right now, even if he can wear his HIckory uniform:
"I hate to admit this but he'd kill me."
"I'm 40 pounds more than I was when I played, I'm broken down, I really don't care like I used to. I have a fight in me but it's not the fight that I once had ... but it'd be a pretty close game."
