Two weeks ago, it was announced that Michigan's football team would be wearing Michael Jordan's "Jumpman" logo on their uniforms as part of their deal with Nike. Apparently, during the negotiation phase, Michael Jordan personally called Jim Harbaugh to let him know about the deal. Harbaugh thought someone was pulling his leg.
Reporter: Can I ask you to clarify something? There was a report that Michael Jordan reached out to you about this Jumpman-Nike deal. Is that true, and can you talk about that conversation?
Harbaugh: Yeah, my phone rang and it's a number that I didn't know, and [I] said "Hello." And I didn't catch the whole name, because ... you know how sometimes the cell phone will cut out ... half ... sometimes -- I got part of it. And I said, "Excuse me, I didn't get ... phone cut out ... who is this?" And he said, "This is Michael Jordan."
I said, "Come ooooon! Come ooon! Who is this really?" He says, "This is Michael Jordan." I said, "The REAL Michael Jordan?"
So yeah, that's kinda how it went. It was really cool. Sarah [Harbaugh] was very, very impressed that Michael Jordan called me.
