Thousands of fans poured into Oracle Arena on Tuesday night to watch the Golden State Warriors’ season opener. Many fans were not wearing Stephen Curry jerseys, or Klay Thompson jerseys, or even Kevin Durant jerseys, however. Instead, they were wearing white t-shirts in tribute to Craig Sager.
The Warriors joined TNT in paying tribute to the network’s longtime sideline reporter. This summer, Sager underwent his third bone marrow transplant as he continues to battle against leukemia. The entire NBA community has rallied around Sager with several reporters, players, and teams paying tribute. The tribute didn’t stop at just t-shirts in the crowd.
Sideline reporter Kristen Ledlow wore some special shoes inspired by Sager’s wardrobe while she was working the Cavaliers-Knicks game.
Those are special edition Nikes that will benefit the SagerStrong Foundation. They, and these custom shirts, are available for purchase.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr wore the shirt during the pregame.
Even Gregg Popovich got in on the tribute with a tie Sager would have to appreciate.
It all adds up to a beautifully hideous tribute that only Sager could be worthy of. Get well soon, Craig.
