Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Vin Scully, and Michael Jordan took wonderful photos at the White House

Last Wednesday, the White House announced the 21 names that would receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Obama, some of whom are sports legends like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Vin Scully (who couldn’t believe the news), and Michael Jordan. On Tuesday, all 21 recipients gathered at the White House, and judging from the NBA’s Twitter feed, there was a lot of photo taking and a lot of mingling.

We may not know what these various celebrities were talking about before Obama’s presentation, but that’s not going to stop us from writing fake captions.

Vin Scully: “So, what was it like getting beat up by Bruce Lee?”

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: “It’s great to be here with my two kids, Ellen and Bobby.”

Abdul-Jabbar: “Did you write the saxophone solo into ‘Born to Run,’ or was that added after the fact?”

An illustration of just how tall Abdul-Jabbar is compared to Jordan and Scully. Oh, and Bruce Springsteen’s in the background. No big deal.

Abdul-Jabbar: “Tom Hanks, I loved you in that short film David S. Pumpkins.”

Tom Hanks: “That’s ... that’s pretty much what I’m going to be known for, isn’t it?”

Of course, Ellen had everyone do the Mannequin Challenge at the White House, which I’ll place partial blame on the Cavs for after they did their version.

You can watch the Presidential Medal of Freedom live stream below, which starts at 2:55 p.m. ET:
