Anthony Davis had himself a career game against the Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Sunday. The Pelicans got the win, but this game meant more than just a victory for Anthony Davis.
Davis finished with 59 points, a season-high for the NBA, which is also a Pelicans franchise record. But more importantly, he joined legendary company. Since 1983, there have only been two other players to score 50 points and grab 20 boards in a game: Shaquille O'Neal and Chris Webber.
O'Neal achieved the milestone on March 6, 2000 against the Clippers. He had 61 points and 23 rebounds. Webber did this almost a year later against the Indiana Pacers with 51 points and 26 rebounds. Davis joined that exclusive company with a stat line of 59 points and 20 rebounds.
