In order to get products to the market as soon as possible, companies produce a ton of Super Bowl championship gear before the game even occurs. For the winning side, things sell like crazy with fans gobbling up shirts, hats, and much more to celebrate the championship. It's a sadder situation on the losing side.
Losing championship shirts and hats are often famously shipped and distributed to impoverished countries. Other items, well they end up like this.

Somewhere, someone had an inventory of championship pennants that became nearly worthless the second the Broncos clinched the Super Bowl. Had Carolina won, that person may have sold out. Instead, all that's left to do is try and salvage anything they can. Maybe a few Panthers fans will spend the $1 to think about what could have been.
