Texas and Texas A&M might finally play each other again ... in basketball

It's about time!

... but in college basketball. Come on, you know that whole football thing wasn't going to get resolved that easily.

The NCAA Tournament bracket is out and both No. 3 Texas A&M and No. 6 Texas were seeded into the West Region. You might realize what that means if you're big into brackets, but just in case it still isn't clicking ...

We're coming up on five years since rumors first started that Texas A&M would be leaving the Big 12 to join the SEC, and since then, it's been an up-and-down journey full of subtext and false promises that the two schools would once again renewed one of the most storied rivalries in college sports. Since then, the rivalry has gone cold. The basketball teams did meet much earlier this season at the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, while the baseball teams met in a tournament a little ways back, but without the conference significance or being on national, primetime television, it just hasn't had the same weight.

As long as the two teams can take care of their lower-seeded opponents next weekend, we're finally due for a crucially important clash between the two sides. And hey, even if one of them loses, that will provide plenty of bragging rights on its own. But we'd rather the two schools go at again. Lord knows when it might happen again.
