The Astros' backup catcher pitched and came out throwing knuckleballs

New, comments

For the first time in the 2016 season, an MLB position player took the mound. Astros backup catcher Erik Kratz was bestowed the honor after the Mariners built a 9-1 lead. When many position players get called on to pitch, they come out and throw nothing but fastballs. Not Kratz.

No, instead he mixed in a full arsenal of pitches including a knuckleball!

Not all of his offerings were quite that successful ...

He may have given up three hits, two runs (one earned) and dished out two wild pitches, but at least he did it in style.
