A year after getting spurned by DeAndre Jordan in the midnight hour, the Dallas Mavericks made sure history did not repeat itself this time around. Last year the Mavericks agreed to a deal with Jordan, but he changed his mind before the NBA signing moratorium was over. This year, the Mavericks agreed to a deal with Harrison Barnes and made sure he was there to sign the second the moratorium ended.

If Barnes was going to escape to Houston and hide away in his house, triggering a great emoji meltdown on Twitter, he was going to have to do it while handcuffed to the Mavericks. Dallas also made sure to get that deal signed and sealed quickly, taking less than 10 minutes to make it official.
Well played, Mavs.
