A day after beating the Timberwolves, 76ers star Joel Embiid went on Instagram to celebrate the overtime victory. He’s done this before and always includes fun Easter eggs like the time Philadelphia defeated the Lakers and location tagged himself in Lavar (for LaVar Ball).
This time, he tweeted a photo of him scoring. The caption seems harmless at first:
Euro stepping our way through Minnesota and we ended up raising the cat last night #TheProcess
Knowing Joel Embiid, you can bet he used the term raising the cat not because that’s been an unofficial celebratory slogan of the 76ers, but because he’s referencing KAT — Karl-Anthony Towns.
Towns might have seen this, which is why he responded with what he thought was a decent burn.
The Caption was as trash as your picture quality.
The picture quality isn’t the best here but you know Embiid didn’t pick that photo because of the resolution. He posted it because the photo has Towns and Butler hopelesly staring at Embiid while The Process gets an easy layup on the Timberwolves.
And you know with someone like Joel Embiid, you have to bring your trash talking A-game on social media if you want to keep up. In this case, Towns could have done better because that reply was all Embiid needed to dunk on him via Instagram comment.
@karltowns better quality than your defense.
Towns isn’t really a defensive specialist so this one might sting just a little. After shootaround on Tuesday morning, Karl-Anthony Towns talked about his relationship with Embiid.
"Joel's a good friend of mine. He has his way of having fun, I have my different way of having fun. I don't got time for that. I'm trying to watch Netflix and play video games. He does what he does, he has a one-of-a-kind personality."
Whether or not the two are serious about this or just joking doesn’t even matter. We need to see these two on the court as soon as possible for them to settle this. They play again in March so we have to wait a little while longer for the rematch, but it’ll be worth it.
