Chris Christie’s hatred of Philadelphia borders on the obsessive. Wednesday night the governor of New Jersey launched a fresh salvo, this time directed at the Phillies. Christie spoke about his beloved Mets during an interview with SNY TV, before going off the rails when asked about Phillies fans using the phrase “Ya gotta believe.”
“The Phillies suck. They are an awful team, they are an angry bitter fanbase” — @GovChristie

It took the Phillies a couple of hours to take it all in and respond, but they went for the kill shot.
We love our fans and appreciate their unwavering support as we "bridge" to a bright future!

In case you forgot: Christie colluded to shut down a toll booth, creating massive traffic jams in Fort Lee, N.J. It’s believed the move was designed to punish the mayor of Fort Lee, who declined to support Christie in his re-election campaign. “BridgeGate” was one of the biggest political scandals of 2013, and naturally the Phillies knew it.
It’s only a matter of time before Christie responds, but he might have dropped his best material too early. The Phillies, meanwhile, seem to just be getting started.
