John Elway wrote a letter to Senate endorsing Neil Gorsuch for Supreme Court

On Monday afternoon a letter emerged from Broncos GM John Elway, who wrote to the Senate Judiciary Committee voicing his support for Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court.

The Broncos were quick to clarify that it wasn’t on their letterhead, but rather Elway’s personal letterhead, despite having the team’s logo on it. The letter read as follows:

Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee,

It is with my highest recommendation that I support Judge Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the United States Supreme Court.

A native of Colorado, Neil has demonstrated tremendous intelligence, character and fairness while serving for more than a decade on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. His credentials, integrity and sound moral compass are major reasons why he’s already received so much bipartisan support for his nomination.

Neil is a big Denver Broncos fan, and I can tell you that I’m a big fan of his. I look forward to having Neil Gorsuch, one of our own from the great state of Colorado, as the next Supreme Court Justice.

Sincerely,

John Elway

Executive Vice President of Football Operations/ General Manager

Denver Broncos Football Club

This isn’t the first time Elway has dabbled in politics over the last year. In January he was a guest during the Presidential inauguration of Donald Trump and during the election cycle he was the star of an ad campaign urging voters to reject two ballot initiatives: One that would raise the minimum wage in Colorado, the other which sought to establish a single-payer healthcare system in the state.
