It’s been an emotional weekend for Bryan Bickell, the veteran Carolina Hurricanes forward who chose to end his career to fight his battle with multiple sclerosis on Friday.
Bickell returned to game action for the first time in months on Thursday, was joined by his teammates in a MS fundraiser walk with fans on Saturday and suited up for the final time on Sunday in Philadelphia.
When the Flyers and Hurricanes fought to a shootout, Carolina coach Bill Peters put Bickell out first.
And he scored.
That’s Bickell’s wife and daughter cheering for him in the stands as his teammates mob him.
Bickell’s goal helped decide it, as Carolina ended their season with a win and Bickell ended his career with one heck of a moment.
