Miguel Cabrera tried to steal a fan’s beard in the middle of a game

Who can blame him?

Wednesday night, while playing the Seattle Mariners, Tigers first baseman made a showstopping play. It wasn’t a diving catch or impressive tag — instead, the baseball star caught a beard.

Yes, caught a beard. No, that’s not a metaphor or a some baseball slang you’ve never heard before — he actually reached into the stands, reached out and snagged a Mariners fan’s beard with his glove.

Wow, catch of the game! But what inspired Miggy to touch this guy’s beard? Was it some sort of sheer admiration for facial hair? Or just a desire to make some random fans day?

Both are good options — but I think I know the true answer.

Miguel Cabrera was trying to STEAL this guys beard. I mean, take a look at Miguel Cabrera’s facial hair — it’s almost non-existent.

There’s a little bit of scruff on the chin, but nothing CLOSE to the full-faced majesty of that fan’s beard.

Way better. Honestly, I can’t even blame Cabrera for trying to steal this beard. Who knows? It might even pay off if the Tigers make the playoffs this year.

And on the flip side, the Mariners fan still has his beard and was just bewildered by the moment.

“I turned around for a foul ball and Miguel Cabrera was squeezing my face with his glove,” he said, grinning.

So in the end, everyone wins — this guy got to meet Miguel Cabrera, Miguel Cabrera got some inspiration for his beard, and the world got to witness this beautiful moment in the middle of a baseball game.
