Alcides Escobar home run puts Royals on top in ALCS Game 1

The Royals starting shortstop increases his 2014 home run total by a full 33% to put Kansas City up in Game 1 of the ALCS against Baltimore.

Alcides Escobar's bat does not have a great deal of baseball experts call "pop," hitting just three home runs in the entirety of 2014. But, it's the playoffs and that means that everything you thought you knew is a lie. Which is why it's in no way surprising that he hit just his fourth home run of the year to put the Kansas City Royals up 1-0 in the top of the third inning of Game 1.
