Shohei Ohtani hit a home run in his first at bat with the Angels. Then, the next day, he hit another one off of Indians’ ace Corey Kluber. Probably not what Cleveland was expecting, but those notions should be thoroughly readjusted across the league after his performance the last few days. Spring training what now?
But the best thing about his home runs, apart from — obviously — the actual achievement, is the pure joy displayed on his face after he rounds the bases.
You only have to turn to Getty Images’ stash to see what I mean.
This comes shortly after the team ended their “silent treatment” celebration after Ohtani’s first career home run, and he looks like his friends just threw him the best surprise birthday party ever — he had no idea!
Pure happiness right here.
Not every still is going to be like a still from a party movie where everyone has their head tilted back laughing just so even though it’s impossible for people to be that naturally pretty all the time. Some photos of happiness are just like this one — content with the job done and on to the next one. Still a great shot.
Joy! Even when covered with freezing water!
Straight up beaming when he rounds the bases on his second dinger. Keep the smile going, and we’ll keep adding more pictures as they come.
