The Lonely Island have a new song. The Lonely Island have a new song they performed for the first time at a concert Sunday night. The Lonely Island have a new song they performed for the first time at a concert Sunday night ... about Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco? With a special guest appearance by ... Joe Montana?

The band — the one behind Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping and all of those Saturday Night Live songs from the mid-aughts you love so much — hasn’t had new music outside of a few one-offs or a new album in a while. But their old stuff has endured.

For any fan of the band, their return to the music scene including mostly old hits isn’t surprising. The surprising part was the debut of a new song about Canseco and McGwire, complete with costumes and steroid pantomime.

You can see some of it for yourself thanks to a few concertgoers who captured the magnificence.

With a special guest appearance by “Joe Montana.”

It’s 2018 and things mostly suck, but then something like this happens and you remember all the chances to avoid “mostly” and to find something that doesn’t suck. If this turns out to be an entirely sports-themed album, then this is a great start. Costumes and all.
