The Angels have activated Shohei Ohtani from the disabled list, and the plan is to now have him serve as a designated hitter for the rest of this season so as not to further exacerbate his elbow troubles that will probably keep him from taking the mound until 2019 or later.

He’ll hit sixth against the Mariners Tuesday night, and even though we are hiding a bit of disappointment that he won’t be pitching again this season, there’s only one thing we can really say here.
