Lyoto Machida will try and get back in the win column and Derek Brunson will try and put his name back into the title picture in the main event of a UFC Fight Night event in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Saturday.
UFC Sao Paulo will begin at 7 p.m. ET on UFC Fight Pass with a slate of prelims, which will continue on Fox Sports 2 at 8 p.m. The main card will begin at 10 p.m. and is a free broadcast on Fox Sports 1.
Machida is a former UFC champion and only fights the best of the best, but he was finished in both of his last two fights — a knockout to Yoel Romero in June 2015 and a submission to Luke Rockhold in April 2015. He hasn’t fought since then.
His last win was a first-round TKO over C.B. Dollaway in December 2014. He’ll be taking on Brunson, who himself is coming off a win but also lost two fights prior to that. Brunson bested Dan Kelly by KO in June 2017, but fell to Anderson Silva and Robert Whittaker in bouts before that.
In the co-main event, Demian Maia will fight in his first bout since losing a five-round decision to Tyron Woodley in July 2017. Maia was challenging for the UFC Welterweight Championship after winning seven consecutive bouts. Now he’s trying to get back in the win column against Colby Covington.
Covington is 12-1, with wins in his last four fights, all in the UFC. He joined the UFC just five fights into his career and the results have been excellent. But Maia will easily be his toughest test to date.
Below is all you need to know to watch Saturday’s fight card, as well as a full list of preliminary and main card bouts.
