Joanna Jędrzejczyk has finally tasted defeat as a professional mixed martial artist, dropping the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship to Rose Namajunas at UFC 217: Bisping vs. St-Pierre.
Namajunas dropped Jedrzejczyk with a left hook in the first round, then finished the match on the ground, winning by TKO.

Jędrzejczyk was 14-0 as a mixed martial artist, and had defended her title five consecutive times, with eight wins in the UFC. She was dominant to the point of being considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world. She still is that, but now she has a loss on her record.
Still, 14-1 is pretty good, and given her wins over names like Jessica Penne, Valérie Létourneau, Cláudia Gadelha, Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Jéssica Andrade. She’ll go back to the drawing board, and should find herself either rematching right away or competing to get back into the title picture.
Namajunas is now 7-3 as a professional, with wins in her last two bouts. She bested Michelle Waterson her last time out. A rematch with Kowalkiewicz could be in the cards, given Namajunas lost to her in July 2016.
