Watch The 2012 Indy 500 Grandstands Fill Up On Race Day

I'm going to try and post a photo about once every hour this morning from Indianapolis Motor Speedway so you can get an idea of what it's like to see the grandstands go from zero to 250,000 before lunchtime.

Keep checking back here and I'll keep updating this when I can up until the start of the Indy 500.

Note: These are all taken from the exact same spot in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway media center. The media center at Indy is not the famed pagoda, but is actually a long, four-story building built when the track was hosting Formula One races last decade.

The video board you can see in the pictures is showing clips and interviews from past races, giving fans a sense of history and perspective as they sit and wait for the 96th running of the Indy 500. It's pretty crazy to think about all the history that's happened here.

Also, SB Nation Studios just posted a REALLY COOL video for Indy 500 Race Day. This will get you fired up!
