Dale Earnhardt Jr. proposed to girlfriend Amy Reimann while the couple was vacationing on Wednesday in Germany.
Earnhardt popped the question in a Lutheran church that he tweeted his family had attended seven generations and 300 years ago. Reimann shared the engagement via a Twitter post featuring a picture of them inside the church.
I'm completely overwhelmed with love & joy. Happiest girl in the world! I love you so much @DaleJr pic.twitter.com/lBxbFLJ4xf

With the Sprint Cup Series off this week, Earnhardt and Reimann, along with Earnhardt's sister and brother-in-law, traveled to Germany to research the Earnhardt family's lineage. Also along is Martin Friedrich, an information technology specialist at JR Motorsports, Earnhardt's Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series team. Friedrich, a native of Germany, is acting as a tour guide for the two couples.

"I got some specific towns that we're going to go visit that we understand that my ancestors are from," Earnhardt said after a second-place finish Sunday at Michigan International Speedway. "I've been searching my genealogy for about five years now and I made a promise to myself then that I would go to Germany and understand more about my ancestors when I turn 40, so here I am.
"I'm real nervous about flying over there. I haven't flown commercial since 9/11, so it's been a long time. My friends tell me I'm in for a treat. Hopefully it's just a good trip."
