Martin Truex Jr. closed out a dominant Round 1 performance in the Chase for the Sprint Cup by winning Sunday at Dover International Speedway.

Rarely was Truex challenged over the second half of the first elimination race, regularly building up multi-second leads over second place and leading an event-high 187 laps. It was his third victory in three playoff races.

Kyle Busch finished second, with rookie Chase Elliott third, Brad Keselowski fourth, and Matt Kenseth fifth. Completing the top 10 were Joey Logano, Jimmie Johnson, Austin Dillon, Denny Hamlin, and Jeff Gordon.

All of the top-10 finishers with the exception of Gordon advanced to the Chase's quarterfinal round. Also transferring were Carl Edwards, Kurt Busch, and Kevin Harvick.

Failing to qualify for the second Chase round were Tony Stewart, Kyle Larson, Jamie McMurray, and rookie Chris Buescher. Chip Ganassi Racing teammates Larson and McMurray were competitive, but each experienced mechanical failures that ultimately undermined their chances. Larson had an electrical issue, while McMurray suffered a blown engine.
