There is no bigger wild card in the Chase for the Sprint Cup than Talladega Superspeedway, and the fact that it's the second elimination race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup only heightens the drama.
Start time: NASCAR Hall of Famer and Alabama native Bobby Allison will give the command for drivers to fire their engines at approximately 2:07 p.m. ET, with the Hellmann's 500 set to go green at 2:20 p.m. ET.
Distance: The field will circle NASCAR's biggest track (2.66 miles) 188 laps, totaling 500 miles.
National anthem: "The Star Spangled Banner" will be performed by the 313th United States Army Brass Quintet. A B-1 Lancer from the 354th Bomb Squadron out of Dyess Air Force Base in Texas will then do a flyover.
TV/Radio/Stream coverage: NBCSN will carry the television broadcast with its coverage beginning at 1 p.m. ET. The network will also provide a stream at NBCSports.com. Motor Racing Network will handle the radio broadcast, with SiriusXM NASCAR simulcasting MRN's coverage.
Defending race winner: In a controversial ending, Joey Logano was narrowly ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr. when a caution that may have deliberately caused by Kevin Harvick saw the race conclude under caution. It was Logano's third victory, giving him a sweep of the quarterfinal round.
