After last night's news of Osama bin Laden's death at the hands of U.S. special forces, I think even the most anti-war among us wouldn't mind hearing a thundering rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" done by a seasoned pro. So how about Jim Cornelison, perhaps the best in the business, singing the national anthem at Monday night's Chicago Bulls game against the Atlanta Hawks?
As WSB-TV in Atlanta's Zach Klein reported, the veteran Chicago Blackhawks house national anthem belter will perform the song at the series' Game 1, and the whole thing will be televised on TNT. You may remember Cornelison from his Soldier Field performances during the Chicago Bears 2010 playoff run. Here's a video:
Like a tumbling boulder made of America, Cornelison's anthem just gets stronger and stronger as it goes. When playing this video for friends, at first you're met with snickers -- what is this, opera or somethin'? But by the end it's impossible not to sit back and admire a thing being done masterfully.
