Michael Beasley Cited For Marijuana Possession, Likely Loses David Kahn's Trust

Via SLAM!, KARE 11 in Minneapolis reports that Michael Beasley was cited on marijuana possession and speeding last week. The Minnesota Timberwolves forward has a storied history with Mary Jane, having been booted from the NBA's rookie symposium in 2008 for allegedly smoking out his hotel room with Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur. The Miami Heat, who drafted B-Easy No. 2 overall in 2008, also sort of shoved the forward into some odd quasi-rehab program in 2009, a year before peddling his rights to Minnesota for a second-round pick and cap space.

But upon B-Easy's arrival in Minnesota last summer, Wolves general managing enthusiast David Kahn said he was convinced Beasley was a brand new man. Or wolf. Or man-wolf.

"He's a very young and immature kid who smoked too much marijuana and has told me that he's not smoking anymore, and I told him that I would trust him as long as that was the case," Kahn said.

Kahn was fined $50,000 for discussing Beasley's marijuana-related disclosure. Heads were shaken. Sighs were executed.

Beasley might have been on the way out anyway, given that Minnesota drafted forward Derrick Williams No. 2 overall in June's NBA Draft. This isn't that big a deal in the grand scheme -- Beasley was nailed with 16 grams, or half of an ounce, and yes please, save your sanctimony -- but it sure isn't going to help the kid's value given past issues.
