Landry Fields injury: Raptors' swingman out indefinitely after elbow surgery

Toronto Raptors guard Landry Fields had surgery on his right elbow and is out indefinitely.

Toronto Raptors' guard Landry Fields went under the knife on Wednesday, the team announced Thursday.

Doctors in New York performed surgery on the ulnar nerve of Fields' right elbow, and there is currently no timetable for his return. He will be re-assessed in two weeks.

Fields had missed the previous three games with a "tender right wrist," so the surgery on his elbow is unexpected. The Raptors signed Fields to a three-year deal for $20 million. He played the prior two seasons with the New York Knicks. The swingman struggled in the five games he started this season, only averaging 2.4 points in 21.4 minutes per-game.

Fields is not the only Raptor to recently suffer an injury. Point guard Kyle Lowry is out for the next 1-2 weeks with an injury in his right foot, while Alan Anderson partially tore his plantar fascia in his left foot and will miss the next 3-6 weeks.
