In a perfect world, this New York Knicks season would never end. It would just churn along repeating the same cycle over and over again. One week they look like the most dysfunctional team on the planet, the next, they somehow become the most exhilarating team in the entire league, and then it all falls apart again.
On a daily basis, the Knicks, their fans and the New York media gave us manic mood swings, and they did it with a flair for ridiculousness that just kept on one-upping itself. Whether New York was winning or losing, watching it from afar never stopped being entertaining.
Anyway, we needed to document it somehow -- something to show future generations when they ask about the craziest season ever. So via the cultural touchstone that is the New York Post cover and back page archives, here's the story of the 2012 Knicks. It all started with ...

If there's one testament to the Knicks season, it's that there were too many ridiculous moments (and covers) to choose just one favorite. If you've got a favorite cover, feel free to make your case.
And yes, it's too bad that the Knicks season is finally over, but look on the bright side: We're only six months away from a brand new year of Carmelo Anthony, James Dolan, Mike Woodson, Jeremy Lin and Amar'e Stoudemire all trying to make it work while living up to a brand new set of title expectations. Maybe this really can go on forever.
