The Philadelphia 76ers have just begun their search to replace general manager Rod Thorn, but there appears to already be a frontrunner. According to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, current San Antonio Spurs vice president of operations Danny Ferry is considered a favorite to take over the position, and is being backed by Sixers head coach Doug Collins.
Danny Ferry is the frontrunner to replace Rod Thorn as 76ers GM, league sources told Y! Sports. Doug Collins is pushing Ferry's candidacy.

According to Wojnarowski, whether the Sixers actively pursue Ferry may depend on how much say over personnel decisions the organization wants to hand over to Collins. There has been contact between Philadelphia and Ferry, however, so this appears to be more than just a passing rumor.
Other candidates reportedly being considered for the position include Spurs assistant GM Dennis Lindsey, former New Orleans Hornets GM Jeff Bower, Oklahoma City Thunder assistant GM Troy Weaver, Atlanta Hawks GM Rick Sund and Milwaukee Bucks GM John Hammond.
