NBA D-League veteran forward Malcolm Thomas is aiming for a guaranteed contract from an NBA team this fall. Finishing last season with the Los Angeles D-Fenders, Thomas earned first team D-League honors averaging 13.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game.
Thomas shined in the postseason, averaging 17.9 points and 12.3 rebounds per game while helping the D-Fenders reach the Finals. Over the summer, Thomas averaged 11.4 points and 12.4 rebounds per game for the Chicago Bulls summer league team in Las Vegas. Thomas recently participated in a two-day work out with the New York Knicks. No formal deal has been made to Thomas, but Knicks executives liked what they saw from Thomas.
Thomas would not be interested in taking a training camp deal. If the Knicks would not be willing to give Thomas their last guaranteed contract, Thomas would look at other NBA offers as well as offers from EuroLeague and Chinese teams.
